Goddess Santoshi Mata

Goddess Santoshi Maa belongs to the family of God Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and is the daughter of Lord Ganesha and Mata Riddhi and shiddhi. Santoshi Maa is the sister of Shubh and Labh. Santoshi mata doesn’t like sour; any kind of sour stuff is not like.

Santoshi Mata, meaning the mother of contentment, is a relatively recent Hindu female divinity. Santoshi Maa is particularly worshipped by women of North India. Maa Santoshi an emblem of love, contentment, forgiveness, happiness and hope. It is so believed that fasting and praying for her for 16 consecutive Fridays, this vrat is quite different from others. Women observe a fast and take their meals in the evening. They include a one time meal that can be anything but without any sour in it. Don’t eat curd, Tamarind, lemon, and any sour. Friday in the month of shravan is especially auspicious.
